    Where are you looking at?
If you are looking at the Account -> Settings. Then you wont find it there.

You will find it here –

Let me know if it is not there, we can think of a alternate solution then.

  10. This hasn’t worked for me 😦 tried it 3 times! Still getting the same error. I got this after letting someone else log into facebook on my blackberry then I tried to log back in and also get these errors.

  11. Thanks so much, this has been annoying me for too long. Appears to be fixed!

    Comment by Noelle — January 2, 2011 @ 5:01 am

  12. Ah you let someone else log into your fb app.
I did this 2 days ago.. and here’s what you do:
    1. Clear your cache on your blackberry browsers.
    2. Visit that app page again from your computer (using your profile) and see that the page is still blocked.
    3. If possible, ask the people who logged in to facebook via your blackberry to do the same (point 2)

    Comment by krish — January 2, 2011 @ 10:42 am

  13. How do you clear the cache? Sorry to sound thick.

    Comment by Melissa — January 2, 2011 @ 6:23 pm

  14. @Melissa:

    Here’s how:
    1. Open your blackberry’s internet browser
    2. Press blackberry key to get a slide up menu. Select “Options”
    3. Select “Cache Operations” in Browser Options
    4. There will be 4 buttons
    a. Clear History
    b. Clear – for content cache
    c. Clear – for pushed content
    d. Clear – for cookie cache
Click on clear for all except a.
    5. Repeat the steps with your “Hotspot browser” and/or “GPRS browser if any”

    >”so are they going to charge me for the timei havenot been able to use it?????”

Really depends on your data plan and your Network operator. Best information about this would be available with them.

Again, an instinct says YES! they will charge you. They have provided you the connectivity – You use or don’t use shouldn’t affect the amount of cash they stock as revenues. .. is the philosophy of many a business organisations.

In the end I managed to sort out my facebook.

    1. I unistalled the facebook app
    2. I did a battery pull
    3. I went on facebook on the computer and went to account>privacy settings>apps and websites edit settings>apps you use> and remove blackberry

  20. Great suggestions. But, still doesn’t fix the issue. I have a tour 9630 and have had this issue for several weeks. Actually since the FB profile page changed and I opted to change mine. After a hard reset I was never able to log in again. Sure, I can access via a browser with no issues- both the BB browser and Opera mini is on my Tour and work great.

I have scoured the internet for an answer for the App issues and have tried the following:

    Deleting the App and Re-Installing
Removing the app from the account settings / re-logging in.
Blocking the BB FB app, then attempting to log in.
    Changing passwords

I probably have given this way more time than necessary but I dont like to admit when a problem has me stumped – and this does. The best explanation I have seen is from RIM that says its a FB application API error. Makes sense since there are posts from IPhone and Android users having a similar issue with the 2102 unknown error.

Following that theory, I attemted to log-on to FB via a family members IPod touch and I could not. I’m convinced it’s something on the FB side, not the RIM app. With that maybe someone out there can figure it out…… If you have any additional ideas, hit me up.

    Comment by LarryK — January 10, 2011 @ 11:28 pm

  21. > The best explanation I have seen is from RIM that says its a FB application API error.

That is true. It is the “App” playing up.. by “App” here I mean the one on Facebook, and not on your phone.
You’d/Most users here would notice..that once you block the FB app and are logged in too.. soon after sometime, that app gets linked to your account again.

You’ll visit that app page and again see the “Block app” –

Not getting into it too technically, I’d say that once your app gets stuck to your profile, core facebook isn’t really able to manage the access of that app to your profile. It is a bug of Facebook’s third party app management and yes, can be thought of a security issue also.

    Comment by krish — January 11, 2011 @ 12:22 am

  22. @ Krish. I have noticed that the App unblocks itself after you attempt to log-in and the wall post shows that you have installed the app again. For the interim, I’m working from the browser – both on my BB and my computers. I saw in Bugzilla that the developers are pushing a few fixes mid and late month to several API’s, SDK’s, and have several items working for infrastructure. Should be interesting to see if they can fix this issue as so many are having it…

  29. I just wanted to say I have a blackberry curve 8310 and it worked perfectly with facebook until about a month ago. Kept giving me this error The facebook server has returned an unknown error and is not able to fulfill your request. (2102) very frustrating. I tried hooking my phone up to the computer and uninstalling it. Rebooting the phone, even taking the battery out. Reloaded FB into my phone. Didn’t work. Then reading some posts about changing the password and guess what? It works. I changed it from the computer and then signed into my account from my phone with the new password. It works. Give it a try if anyone is having this problem. Happy Facebooking. Deb

  30. Hi Krish,

I was hoping you’d be of great assistance. I’ve been having the same issue with logging onto FB via the actual application on my Storm 2. I have received the same error code “2102” for the last 2 days. Now, my sister does log onto her acct via my phone constantly, which may have caused some bug issue? Not sure. I will try to follow the steps you listed above to see if it can be remedied.

Anyhow, for the last week, I’ve been having difficulty with the actual browser page of FB. It has let me log in, but I cannot comment on any posts or go into my profile, inbox, etc. It allows me to hit “comments” and other areas, but it does not go into that particular area. It does, however, let me “like” something. This has become very annoying as before I even installed the FB application, I’d just use the mobile web site. Any thoughts as to why this is occurring?

Guessing that this is the Storm’s browser?

There are some other users who have reported the same –

    You could try
    1. Clearing all cache
    2. Enable “Supported Embedded Media”
    3. Changing “Browser Identification” to Firefox or Internet explorer
    4. Installing any other browser like Opera

Now, about the app itself, if there are multiple accounts that login to the app, it becomes buggy. At some pages, it retains the old login cookies and tries to pass them on with requests.
That said, when another account has logged in, tell them to clear cache from fbapp -> options before logging out.
If that doesn’t work, then restart seems to be the solution to get it to forget everything about the old login.
FB app is real buggy…. what to say. .. Its not a Facebook made app too

The app is picking up cookies and data from your cache.
Please go to your default browser options and clear all cache, cookies, history too 🙂
Then re-install the app and try 🙂
